Trial injection of highest dose Covid-19 'made in Vietnam' vaccine

This morning, Jan 12, 2021, the Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial unit began giving the highest-dose trial injection to 3 volunteers. According to information from the Military Medical Academy (Ministry of Defense), the academy will administer the highest dose of Nano Covax vaccine (75 mcg) to the volunteers, starting with 3 people.

If after 72 hours of injection, the health of the first 3 cases are healthy, 17 more people will continue to receive the same dose of 75 mcg vaccine. It is known that 60 people participated in the clinical trial of Phase 1 Vaccine. This phase mainly assesses safety and optimizes the dose of Nano Covax Vaccine.

Also according to previous information, the Military Medical Academy has injected Nano Covax vaccine for more than 40 volunteers from 2 target groups since December 17, 2020. Up to now, the majority of the volunteers are stable, about 60% in case of fever and pain at the injection site. Reactions disappear after the first 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health has approved the Military Medical Academy to conduct clinical trial research on the Nano Covax Vaccine researched and developed by Nanogen Company. The testing is divided into 3 phases:

Phase 1, 60 people will receive 2 injections, 28 days apart with doses of 25, 50 and 75 mcg injections. Currently, the Military Medical Academy is recruiting volunteers for phase 2 with the number of people from 400-600. Initially hundreds of people registered, of which about 50% of cases qualified for testing. After that, there will be stage 3 with thousands of people. It is expected that this year, the Nano Covax Vaccine trial will be completed, helping regulators to have safety data, immune response, as a basis for licensing, proceeding to provide for all Vietnamese people.
