Automatic renewal of temporary residence for foreigners affected by Covid-19

Following the direction of the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on the continuation of "automatic extension of temporary residence" for foreigners affected by Covid-19 who cannot leave yet, the Administration Department Immigration management notice:

1. Foreigners entering on a visa-free basis or entering with an e-visa or tourist visa from March 1, 2020 shall continue to be "automatically extended temporary residence" until the end of the day: December 30, 2020, can exit during the above period without having to go through the extension process.

2. In case of a foreigner who enters before March 1, 2020, if it is proven that he is stuck due to the Covid-19 translation, he / she will be certified by the diplomatic mission with a note (with a Vietnamese translation) or Written certification of Vietnamese competent authorities about Covid-19 quarantine or treatment or for other force majeure reasons ... is also considered to apply "automatic extension of temporary residence" until the end of the day: December 30, 2020 (must present the above Note or confirmation upon exit).

3. Foreigners, during the "automatic extension of temporary residence" period, must make a temporary residence declaration and medical declaration according to regulations.

4. Foreigners who do not fall into the above cases or commit other law violations shall comply with the current provisions of Vietnamese law.
